The C-MAC pilot project is complete and the clinic is now closed

For the past eight weeks, The Cambridge North Dumfries Ontario Health Team (CND OHT) has been operating the CND OHT Community Mental Health and Addictions Clinic (C-MAC) pilot project with the support of our members and community partners.

The pilot of the C-MAC has shown that there is a demonstrable need for these services to continue in Cambridge and North Dumfries. In a short timeframe, the clinic has:

  • Helped clients access immediate help.
  • Connected clients with the resources that they need in their own communities.
  • Helped to reduce the strain on our local emergency departments for mental health and addictions issues best managed elsewhere.

Initial C-MAC patient feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

  • 96% of patients were satisfied with the care that they received.
  • 88% felt that their concerns were addressed by the clinic.
  • 42% of patients said that if the clinic did not exist, they would have accessed the emergency department for their care.

The Cambridge North Dumfries Ontario Health Team is initiating a comprehensive evaluation of the pilot project and is working towards refining the clinic model, securing sustainability funding, and finding the C-MAC a new, longer-term home in the community. Stay tuned for updates!

Thank you to all partners who have supported, and continue to support the C-MAC through this time of transition!
